Sin embargo, tal dise\u00f1o abarcaba ciertamente las particulares connotaciones de la mencionada instituci\u00f3n y su visi\u00f3n del edificio -teatro-; pero no mostraba sus conexiones con otros centros europeos. En consecuencia, si nuestra arquitectura teatral no quer\u00eda plantearse como una isla, era necesario abrir el estudio a las posibles relaciones y a la g\u00e9nesis del edificio -teatro moderno, determinado por el nacimiento de la opera. El cuerpo de la investigaci\u00f3n se basa en el estudio de los proyectos de teatro censurados por la comisi\u00f3n de arquitectura. Se trata de un conjunto tipol\u00f3gico de indudable inter\u00e9s. En tal contexto cabe se\u00f1alar la postura abierta de la academia, pues no se trataba de defender una curva para la planta, debido a las relaciones implicitas entre el auditorio y el escenario y a sus dependencias de la aplicaci\u00f3n de la \u00f3ptica y la ac\u00fastica, sino m\u00e1s bien la derivada de resolver el conjunto arquitect\u00f3nico adecuadamente a su funci\u00f3n.
