La adicion de estos sustratos a neuronas del sistema nervioso central, puede ser usado para protegerlas frente a la neurotoxicidad inducida por glutamato. Durante el proceso de envejecimiento, y en terminos de la moneostasis celular del calcio, el hipocampo es la region cerebral estudiada que se altera mas significativamente. Los efectos de la vejez pueden ser paliados en parte, aunque no totalmente, por la adicion de sustratos exogenos piruvato y malato.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis doctoral
