Este trabajo de investigacion esta estructurado en ocho capitulos de tal forma que en cada uno de ellos se desarrollan los objetivos propuestos.  se presentan los diversos carbones y principales centrales termoelectricas existentes en brasil, asi como la produccion de cenizas volantes (975.686 t\/a\u00f1o). Se ha descrito ademas la produccion de cemento (27.490.100 toneladas en 1991), y el posible aprovechamiento de dichas cenizas en los cementos (hasta 825.000 toneladas anuales).  se han expuesto las consideraciones y recomendaciones sobre el impacto ambiental producido por las cenizas volantes generadas en las principales centrales termoelectricas brasile\u00f1as. Asimismo, tambien se destaca cuales han sido las aportaciones que se han realizado dentro de cada uno de los campos estudiados, asi como las futuras lineas de investigacion relacionadas con los
