La herramienta de descomposici\u00f3n b\u00e1sica para se\u00f1ales discretas es el banco de filtros con estructura en \u00e1rbol; su variante adaptativa es el eje central de esta tesis. La primera contribuci\u00f3n de la misma es la caracterizaci\u00f3n del funcionamiento de los bancos de filtros variantes en el tiempo. Por otro lado, se presentan los resultados de la aplicaci\u00f3n de estas herramientas a algunos problemas de procesado de se\u00f1al y comunicaciones: codificaci\u00f3n de voz, compresi\u00f3n de audio; igualaci\u00f3n adaptativa de canal y acceso m\u00faltiple por divisi\u00f3n en c\u00f3digo.
