En la segunda mitad del siglo xix, reelaborando lo m\u00e1s delet\u00e9reo y m\u00edstico del romanticismo, el antirrealismo mostr\u00f3 una particular dilecci\u00f3n por el ocultismo. Una importante parte de la cultura cient\u00edfica y filos\u00f3fica cay\u00f3 bajo la misma influencia. Con la clarificaci\u00f3n pseudote\u00f3rica de las vanguardias del arte prescindir\u00e1 del ocultismo para traducir su negaci\u00f3n de la mimesis en unas nuevas pretensiones de autonom\u00eda y pureza. Subsistir\u00e1, sin embargo, la inequ\u00edvoca identidad ideol\u00f3gica entre el estilo m\u00edstico e irracionalista prevanguardista y la teor\u00eda del arte de vanguardia. Esta tesis discute especialmente el extendido error que asocia la secularizaci\u00f3n a la \u00abdeshumanizaci\u00f3n\u00bb. Secularizaci\u00f3n es sin\u00f3nimo de humanizaci\u00f3n, abandono de creencias irrealistas y sobrenaturales. El orden socioecon\u00f3mico moderno s\u00f3lo ha logrado secularizar el mundo en un sentido formal y t\u00e9cnico, pero auspicia el reencantamiento cultural bajo todas sus formas, y particularmente mediante el arte abstracto. Se estudia la oposici\u00f3n al realismo que se despliega a trav\u00e9s del simbolismo y el wagnerismo, la dilecci\u00f3n por las sombras, el cultivo irracional de los sue\u00f1os y los distintos
