La estructura de la prote\u00edna es un d\u00edmero de 89 kda. Presenta el \u00f3ptimo de actividad enzim\u00e1tica en nacl 1.75 m o en kcl 1.3 m. La enzima es relativamente estable a concentraciones bajas de sal, presentando un tiempo de vida media de 163 h. A 0.6 m de nacl y 17 h. A 45 mm de nacl. Las sales estabilizan la conformaci\u00f3n activa de la prote\u00edna aumentando su termoestabilidad, siendo el incremento de entalp\u00eda y la energ\u00eda de activaci\u00f3n independientes de la concentraci\u00f3n salina. La enzima presenta especificidad dual para el coenzima, aunque posee una afinidad muy superior por el nadp. Puede emplear como sustrato alternativo xilosa y presenta inhibici\u00f3n por exceso de sustrato a concentraciones de glucosa superiores a 0.2 m. Presenta un mecanismo secuencial ordenado de estado estacionario.  se produce activaci\u00f3n de la enzima por cationes divalentes. La enzima contiene dos \u00e1tomos de zinc por subunidad.  empleando como sonda el extremo n ter. Se ha clonado y secuenciado un fragmento de 1.5 kb, que tras realizar comparaciones no parece formar parte del gen de la glucosa deshidrogenasa.
