En primer lugar se estudian y caracterizan las fases solida y liquida del medio. Posteriormente se interrelacionan ambas mediante la propuesta de un modelo diagenetico conceptual que explica la composicion ionica hallada en el agua intersticial. El modelo se propone tras estudiar la hidroquimica desde el punto de vista de los balances de masas, comparando los datos experimentales con los teoricos calculados para la hipotesis de mezcla de agua marina congenita con agua dulce del acuifero infrayacente. Las principales reacciones quimicas propuestas son: intercambio ionico y disolucion-precipitacion de carbonatos. La verosimilitud del modelo se comprueba mediante la simulacion numerica del transporte reactivo de cationes, usando datos experimentales de las fases liquida y solida.
