Los primeros se han asociado a la mayor competitividad e infectividad que presenta esta cepa con respecto a otras que no los poseen. Durante la simbiosis los genes nfe se transcriben mayoritariamente de forma independiente, cada uno desde su propio promotor y no parecen regularse entre ellos. Su expresi\u00f3n coincide con la de los genes nifa,h y puede regularlos nifa, mientras que la expresi\u00f3n de nfed podr\u00eda ser dependiente de otro activador transcripcional a su vez controlado por los niveles de ox\u00edgeno en el n\u00f3dulo.  el gen nfea probablemente no codifica ninguna prote\u00edna, y su funci\u00f3n puede ser asegurar unos niveles m\u00ednimos de transcripci\u00f3n de los otros genes nfe durante el establecimiento de la simbiosis con alfalfa, incluso antes de producirse la fijaci\u00f3n de nitr\u00f3geno.  los productos de los genes nfeb y nfed est\u00e1n presentes en el n\u00f3dulo. Estos genes codifican prote\u00ednas de 36.500 y 34.000 d, que se localizan en el citoplasma y en la membrana de los bacteroides respectivamente.  la mutaci\u00f3n de los genes dapah y dapbh del pl\u00e1smido prmegr4b, provoca una disminuci\u00f3n en la capacidad de formar n\u00f3dulos a ph \u00e1cido. Los mutantes dapah, adem\u00e1s, pierden la capacidad de fijar nitr\u00f3geno, competitividad.  de este modo y como otros genes encontrados en pl\u00e1smidos no simbi\u00f3ticos parecen afectar el
