Se han buscado, desde que las tecnolog\u00edas de la computaci\u00f3n lo hn permitido, el respaldo de modelos inform\u00e1ticos para facilitar la toma de decisiones. En esta tesis se ha desarrollado conceptualmente y se ha implantado en forma de prototipo, un modelo avanzado de explotaci\u00f3n y fiabilidad de un sistema el\u00e9ctrico de potencia, considerando conjuntamente la generaci\u00f3n y la red de transporte. El objetivo fundameltal del modelo propuesto ha sido incorporar mayor realismo en la simulaci\u00f3n de estos sistemas, en especial una mejor representaci\u00f3n de la red de transporte, de la cronolog\u00eda inherente en ellos y de la respuesta de los operadores.
