La variaci\u00f3n de los sustituyentes en el anillo arom\u00e1tico genera una variedad de derivados diferentes.  con estes ligandos se prepararon complejos de mn(ii) mediante el m\u00e9todo electroqu\u00edmico, mientras que usando el m\u00e9todo de oxidaci\u00f3n a\u00e9rea se obtuvieron complejos con el manganeso en los estados de oxidaci\u00f3n ii, iii y iv. Se comprueba que los sustituyentes con capacidad donadora de carga en los anillos arom\u00e1ticos de los ligandos estabilizan estados de oxidaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s altos, mientras que aquellos con grupos sustituyentes aceptores de carga estabilizan el estado de oxidaci\u00f3n ii.  tambi\u00e9n se prepararon los complejos de mn(iii) con grupos acetato y acetilacetonato.  todas estas series de complejos fueron caracterizados por an\u00e1lisis elemental, espectroscop\u00eda infrarroja y espectrometr\u00eda de masas, medidas de susceptibilidad magn\u00e9tica, voltametr\u00eda c\u00edclica y de pulso normal as\u00ed como por difracci\u00f3n de rayos x.  se estudi\u00f3 el comportamiento de los complejos como catalizadores para la fotos\u00edntesis y la oxidaci\u00f3n de h2o2.
