Las larvas de este nematodo, que completa su ciclo biol\u00f3gico en mamiferos marinos, se encuentran normalmente enquistadas en visceras y musculatura de peces y calamares. El hombre se infesta accidentalmente al ingerir carne de pescado cruda o insuficientemente cocinada contaminada con el par\u00e1sito. El diagn\u00f3stico de la anisaquiosis se ve enormemente dificultado cuando la larva no puede ser visualizada por las t\u00e9cnicas endosc\u00f3picas, normalmente utilizadas para este prop\u00f3sito.  como alternativa a estas t\u00e9cnicas es muy importante desarrollar nuevas pruebas especificas de serodiagn\u00f3stico capaces de detectar anticuerpos anti-anisakis en el suero de los pacientes infestados, para lo cual es imprescindible profundizar previamente en el conocimiento de la inmunobiolog\u00eda de a. Simplex. En este sentido, en el presente trabajo hemos establecido un modelo de anisaquiosis experimental en el rat\u00f3n en el que hemos demostrado, entre otros aspectos, la expresi\u00f3n de antigenos de a. Simplex especificos de estadio. De manera similar, hemos comprobado tambi\u00e9n la existencia de una fuerte reactividad cruzada entre este par\u00e1sito y otros nematodos pertenecientes a la superfamilia ascaridoidea, algunos de los cuales como ascaris y toxocara pueden tambi\u00e9n afectar al hombre. Esta elevada homolog\u00eda antig\u00e9nica condiciona la utilizaci\u00f3n de preparaciones complejas tales como el extracto crudo, los ant\u00edgenos de excreci\u00f3n-secreci\u00f3n y de superficie y el fluido pseudocel\u00f3mico de la larva, en el serodiagn\u00f3stico de la anisaquiosis humana. Paralelamente, hemos desmostrado que las numerosas biotinil-enzimas presentes en el extracto crudo de a.
