Estos m\u00e9todos pueden clasificarse, a grandes rasgos, como m\u00e9todos de monte-carlo y m\u00e9todos de elementos finitos. A continuaci\u00f3n, nos centramos en los m\u00e9todos de monte-carlo, analizando la variancia que presentan, y aportando nuevas expresiones que la caracterizan. Este an\u00e1lisis de la variancia es necesario puesto que indica cuales son las distribuciones de muestreo m\u00e1s optimas.  estos resultados se usan para guiar el dise\u00f1o de nuevos algoritmos de muestreo para m\u00e9todos de monte-carlo de dos pasadas: primero se detalla un algoritmo para entornos puramente difusos, y posteriormente dicho algoritmo se extiende a entornos de cualquier tipo (no puramente difusos). Los algoritmos propuestos se basan en la t\u00e9cnica de muestreo por importancia en la segunda pasada.  para ello se usa informaci\u00f3n obtenida en la primera pasada, que describe las transferencias de energ\u00eda m\u00e1s importantes entre elementos de la escena. El espacio de almacenamiento necesario se reduce mediante el empleo de t\u00e9cnicas de agrupamiento jer\u00e1rquico de los objetos geom\u00e9tricos. Los algoritmos descritos se han implementado en un sistema de s\u00edntesis de im\u00e1genes desarrollado en nuestro departamento.
