Dicha unidad estructural no s\u00f3lo forma parte de numerosos productos naturales y de utilidad terap\u00e9utica sino que juega un papel importante en muchas estrategias sint\u00e9ticas dirigidas hacia la obtenci\u00f3n de productos m\u00e1s complejos. El trabajo presentado en esta memoria ha permitido el desarrollo de una nueva metodolog\u00eda de car\u00e1cter general, para la s\u00edntesis estereoselectiva de mol\u00e9culas con dos funciones nitrogenadas vecinales en diferente estado de oxidaci\u00f3n, as\u00ed como la posterior elaboraci\u00f3n de dichos compuestos en la s\u00edntesis de productos de alto inter\u00e9s sint\u00e9tico y\/o biol\u00f3gico.  en el primer cap\u00edtulo se describe la preparaci\u00f3n de los sustratos de partida, alfa-aminonitronas, desde compuestos \u00f3pticamente activos de f\u00e1cil acceso. En concreto, se han preparado alfa-aminonitronas enantiom\u00e9ricamente puras a partir de alfa- amino\u00e1cidos comerciales tales como l-alanina, l-valina, l-fenilalanina, l-serina y l-treonina. Con el fin de estudiar el comportamiento de dichas nitronas se han sintetizado sustratos con diferentes grupos protectores en el grupo amino situado en posici\u00f3n alfa del grupo funcional nitrona.  en el segundo cap\u00edtulo, se aborda el estudio de diversas reacciones de adici\u00f3n nucle\u00f3fila a las alfa-aminonitronas preparadas. Se han empleado diferentes tipos de nucle\u00f3filos entre los que se incluyen heterociclos met\u00e1lados, compuestos de grignard, trimetilsililcianuro y acetiluros de litio. El empleo de diferentes grupos protectores ha permitido, en el caso particular de las nitronas derivadas de l-serina, controlar el transcurso estereoqu\u00edmico de las reacciones de adici\u00f3n. Las caracter\u00edsticas estructurales de las hidroxilaminas obtenidas han permitido poner a punto m\u00e9todos basados en estudios de rmn, difracci\u00f3n de rayos x y
