No poseen adem\u00e1s actividad antif\u00fangica sobre seis hongos. la quitinasa de remolacha no se parece a las descritas en la bibliograf\u00eda, pero s\u00ed a tres prote\u00ednas relacionadas con la patog\u00e9nesis. Los dos enzimas aislados de las hojas de remolacha poseen actividad antif\u00fangica sobre el crecimiento de varios hongos. Esta actividad es sin\u00e9rgica, y es mayor si adem\u00e1s est\u00e1 presente una rip. El hongo m\u00e1s afectado fue un pat\u00f3geno de la remolacha (cercospora beticola). Estos enzimas, podr\u00edan ser la primera l\u00ednea de defensa de la planta ya que se acumulan en el l\u00edquido apopl\u00e1stico. La expresi\u00f3n de ambos es inducida por la infecci\u00f3n de plantas de remolacha con varios virus (virus del amarilleo, virus del mosaico) y hongos (uromyces betae y oidium betae). Logramos observar tambi\u00e9n la inducci\u00f3n artificial de estas prote\u00ednas con mediadores de la respuesta antipatogenica como son el \u00e1cido salic\u00edlico y el inhibidor de catalasas
