Como datos se han empleado los incluidos en el cat\u00e1logo s\u00edsmico del instituto geogr\u00e1fico nacional actualizado hasta 1997 y el cat\u00e1logo de isosistas compilado por mezcua en el mismo instituto. Para completar las magnitudes no evaluadas en sismos hist\u00f3ricos, se han estimado a partir de la distribuci\u00f3n de isosistas.  a partir de una revisi\u00f3n de la sismotect\u00f3nica del \u00e1rea, se ha propuesto una regionalizaci\u00f3n de las fuentes s\u00edsmicas a efectos del estudio de peligrosidad.  se han obtenido relaciones regionalizadas de atenuaci\u00f3n de la intensidad con la distancia y a partir de leyes de escala conocidas intensidad-atenuaci\u00f3n se han inferido las correspondientes leyes de atenuaci\u00f3n de la aceleraci\u00f3n pico.  para la estimaci\u00f3n de la peligrosidad s\u00edsmica y de sus incertidumbres se ha seguido la metodolog\u00eda del \u00e1rbol l\u00f3gico, seg\u00fan la cual las diversas estimaciones de los par\u00e1metros de entrada dan lugar a distintas soluciones que se suponen distribuidas log-normalmente, lo que permite obtener los valores m\u00e1s probables en cada punto y sus m\u00e1rgenes de confianza. Los mapas resultantes indican una zona con m\u00e1xima peligrosidad s\u00edsmica en la pen\u00ednsula alrededor de torrevieja (alicante), seguida en importancia por la pr\u00f3xima a alhama (granada). La peligrosidad de la zona occidental de la pen\u00ednsula junto con la del noroeste de marruecos se ven muy influenciada por los grandes terremotos que ocurren en la falla
