La formaci\u00f3n de callo es mayor a la oscuridad y depende cr\u00edticamente de la adici\u00f3n de una citoquinina al medio de incubaci\u00f3n.  sin embargo la diferenciaci\u00f3n de yemas, y su brotaci\u00f3n, es marcadamente mayor a la luz, siendo inhibidos ambos procesos casi por completo en explantes cultivados a la oscuridad en presencia de una auxina. Cuando no est\u00e1 en contaco con el medio de cultivo el extremo basal de los explantes no regeneran, mientras la regeneraci\u00f3n en el extremo apical tiene lugar por un proceso de organog\u00e9nesis directa sin formaci\u00f3n de callo. La diferencia de yemas no precisa de la adici\u00f3n de hormonas al medio y no depende de la luz.
