Capaces de degradar una mezcla de fluoreno, fenantreno, antraceno, pireno y fluoranteno, en un per\u00edodo de 9 a 15 d\u00edas.  se han obtenido dos cepas de sphingomonas paucimobilis capaces de crecer en 2-metil y 3,6-dimetilfenantreno.
