El crecimiento y la masa de c\u00e9lulas beta trasplantadas podr\u00eda tener un papel crucial en la evoluci\u00f3n del injerto. Se hipotetiz\u00f3 que las condiciones metab\u00f3licas del receptor podr\u00edan modificar la capacidad de crecimiento y la masa beta del injerto, condicionando el pron\u00f3stico del tx. el objetivo general fue determinar la capacidad de crecimiento y la mesa beta trasplantada bajo diferentes condiciones metab\u00f3licas. Se trasplantaron islotes isog\u00e9nicos en receptores diab\u00e9ticos. En un primer experimento se estudiaron los islotes trasplantados bajo condiciones de normoglicemia (ng) y en un segundo experimento bajo condiciones de hiperglicemia (hg) cr\u00f3nica. En ng la capacidad de replicaci\u00f3n y la masa de las c\u00e9lulas beta estan preservadas a largo plazo, aumentando en respuesta al mayor requerimiento de masa beta y manteniendo la normoglicemia, la hg transitoria aument\u00f3 la replicaci\u00f3n beta mientras que la hg cr\u00f3nica la limit\u00f3, conduciendo a una progresiva disminuci\u00f3n de la masa inicialmente trasplantada. El restablecimiento de la ng tuvo un efecto beneficioso sobre las c\u00e9lulas beta trasplantadas, recuperando la respuesta replicativa beta a la glucosa y parcialmente la masa beta inicialmente trasplantada. en conclusi\u00f3n, las condiciones metab\u00f3licas del receptor ser\u00edan determinantes en la capacidad de crecimiento y la masa de las c\u00e9lulas
