A pesar de que esta rama de investigaci\u00f3n es relativamente joven, no hay la menor duda de que esta llegando a adquirir cada vez m\u00e1s importancia en una gran variedad de disciplinas. En concreto, este trabajo se ha centrado en el estudio de la sincronizaci\u00f3n y el control de sistemas ca\u00f3ticos, mostrando algunas aplicaciones potenciales a la biolog\u00eda y al campo de las comunicaciones.  la primera parte de la tesis est\u00e1 dedicada al estudio del comportamiento de osciladores ca\u00f3ticos acoplados. En particular, se ha analizado la estabilidad del estado sincronizado global en cadenas abiertas y cadenas cerradas constituidas por osciladores inicialmente en comportamiento ca\u00f3tico. Tambi\u00e9n se ha prestado atenci\u00f3n a las estructuras espacio-temporales (ondas peri\u00f3dicas y ondas ca\u00f3ticas rotantes) que pueden sugir cuando se produce una inestabilidad en el estado de sincronizaci\u00f3n de una cadena cerrada de osciladores ca\u00f3ticos, as\u00ed como a la interacci\u00f3n entre este tipo de estructuras cuando dos cadenas cerradas de osciladores ca\u00f3ticos se conectan entre s\u00ed elemento a elemento. Se han llevado a cabo simulaciones num\u00e9ricas de cadenas abiertas y cerradas de osciladores de lorenz y de osciladores de chua. Con este \u00faltimo tipo de osciladores tambi\u00e9n se presentan resultados experimentales realizados sobre una placa de circuitos electr\u00f3nicos.  la segunda parte de la tesis est\u00e1 dedicada a las aplicaciones de los sistemas ca\u00f3ticos al campo de las comunicaciones digitales. Despu\u00e9s de mostrar una perspectiva general sobre las ventajas que el comportamiento ca\u00f3tico puede proporcionar a los sistemas de comunicaciones digitales convencionales y hacer una recopilaci\u00f3n de los diferentes esquemas de comunicaciones con transmisi\u00f3n de se\u00f1ales ca\u00f3ticas propuestos hasta la fecha, se pre<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de
