Se muestrearon un total de 10 secciones que abarcan dicho intervalo para los estudios micropaleontol\u00f3gicos (de foramin\u00edferos planct\u00f3nicos, foramin\u00edferos bent\u00f3nicos y nanplancton calc\u00e1reo), geoqu\u00edmicos (is\u00f3topos estables de ox\u00edgeno, carbono y de estroncio) y mineral\u00f3gico. El relleno sedimentario estudiado, comprendido entre el tortoniense superior (7,8-7,2 ma) y el messiniense terminal (5,3 ma), se puede dividir en tres conjuntos en relaci\u00f3n con las evaporitas; 1) dep\u00f3sito pre-evapor\u00edtico (entre 7,8 y 5,9 ma), 2) dep\u00f3sito evapor\u00edtico (aproximadamente entre 5,9 y 5,6 ma), y, 3) dep\u00f3sito post-evapor\u00edtico marino (hasta 5,5 ma) y continental (hasta 5,3 ma). En este armaz\u00f3n temporal se encuadran los datos litol\u00f3gicos, sedimentol\u00f3gicos, micropaleontol\u00f3gicos e isot\u00f3picos, para establecer el siguiente modelo general detallado de evoluci\u00f3n paleoambiental de las cuencas estudiadas.  1.- Tortoniense superior-tr\u00e1nsito tortoniense\/messiniense: los materiales tortonienses, en su mayor\u00eda, se depositaron durante el inicio de un per\u00edodo fr\u00edo, caracterizado por un enriquecimiento en el is\u00f3topo pesado del ox\u00edgeno y abundancia de globigerina bulloides, y de aguas productivas, caracterizada por la composici\u00f3n de is\u00f3topos de carbono. Estos materiales se depositaron en un medio batial superior con fondos bien oxigenados (alta diversidad en las asociaciones de foramin\u00edferos bent\u00f3nicos) en unas cuencas totalmente abiertas al mediterr\u00e1neo. adem\u00e1s se detecta el conocido como preludio del \u00abcarb\u00f3n shift\u00bb.
