La teoria de recursos y capacidades y la teoria de la agencia constituyeron los fundamentos necesarios para la identificaci\u00f3n, de la utilidad estrategica de la remuneraci\u00f3n variable. Basandonos en dichas teorias asi como en estudios empiricos de otros sutores y en la informaci\u00f3n obtenida de nuestra propia muestra de empresas, propusimos un modelo general para el dise\u00f1o de la retribuci\u00f3n del directivo; con el objetivo de poner de manifiesto las peculiaridades y aspectos relevantes a tener en cuenta en cada una de las fases que componen el proceso de dise\u00f1o del paquete de compensaci\u00f3n del directivo= asimismo, llevamos a cabo un estudio empirico, en concreto un analisis de varianza, con la intenci\u00f3n de comprobar la eficiencia de los incentivos
