Rosario <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>S. Aureus subsp. Anaerobius es el agente etiol\u00f3gico de la enfermedad de los abscesos. Esta bacteria carece de actividad catalasa. Los estudios realizados hasta la fecha para intentar explicar a que es debida la deficiencia en actividad catalasa de s. Aureus subsp. Anaerobius han demostrado, por una parte, que la bacteria es capaz de sintetizar el grupo hemos y que en extractos proteicos crudos de la bacteria no se detecta prote\u00edna alguna que reaccione inmunol\u00f3gicamente con anticuerpos policlonales obtenidos frente a la catalasa purificada de s. Aureus. Teniendo en cuenta estos hallazgos, consideramos que el esclarecimiento de la cuesti\u00f3n requer\u00eda determinar si la bacteria posee o no el gen de la catalasa y, en caso de poseerlo, si existe alguna(s) alteraci\u00f3n(es) en el gen estructural y\/o en los mecanismos reguladores implicados en la expresi\u00f3n de dicho gen que permita(n) explicar la falta de actividad catalasa de la bacteria.  en una primera etapa de este estudio se aisl\u00f3 y secuenci\u00f3 el gen de la catalasa de s. Aureus atcc 12600 (kata). El gen kata result\u00f3 tener un tama\u00f1o de 1.518 pb y codificar\u00eda para una prote\u00edna de 506 amino\u00e1cidos con un peso molecular aproximado de 58.347. La transformaci\u00f3n de e.Coli con este gen se traduce en un incremento de la actividad catalasa.  en el cromosoma de s. Aureus subsp. Anaerobius est\u00e1 presente un gen hom\u00f3logo al gen kata de s. Aureus. Dicho gen, denominado katb tiene un tama\u00f1o de 1.368 pb y codificar\u00eda para una prote\u00edna de 456 amino\u00e1cidos con un peso molecular aproximado de 52.584. Al contrario de lo observado con el gen de la catalasa de s. aureus, la transformaci\u00f3n de e. Coli con el gen katb no supone ning\u00fan cambio aparente de los niveles de actividad catalasa.  los estudios de transcripci\u00f3n in vitro del gen katb de s. Aureus subsp.
