Filogenia y biogeograf\u00eda hist\u00f3rica de un grupo apenas conocido de scarabaeoidea pleurosticti: la subfamilia pachydeminae (melolonthidae, coleoptera). Los pachydeminae forman una parte muy importante de la fauna ed\u00e1fica que coloniza el horizonte radicular pero, en comparaci\u00f3n con otros grupos de pleurosticti, su taxonom\u00eda ha sido poco estudiada. Esta investigaci\u00f3n se centra en el \u00e1rea pale\u00e1rtica, donde la subfamilia re\u00fane 16 g\u00e9neros, que se distribuyen desde el magreb hasta el c\u00e1ucaso. En la pen\u00ednsula ib\u00e9rica, la subfamilia est\u00e1 representada por dos g\u00e9neros, ceramida baraud, 1987 y elaphocera gen\u00e9, 1836. Ambos se caracterizan por su acusado car\u00e1cter end\u00e9mico y por su dificultad taxon\u00f3mica. El g\u00e9nero ceramida constituye adem\u00e1s una importante plaga del olivo en el sur de espa\u00f1a.  el estudio taxon\u00f3mico ha permitido desechar caracteres tradicionales de la morfolog\u00eda externa que presentaban variabilidad intraespec\u00edfica, y encontrar nuevos caracteres de valor taxon\u00f3mico y filogen\u00e9tico. En concreto, se exploraron tres nuevas homolog\u00edas: el aparato bucal, la anatom\u00eda alar y la genitalia interna masculina y femenina. Estos caracteres fueron luego utilizados para resolver la taxonom\u00eda y proponer una nueva clasificaci\u00f3n de los g\u00e9neros ib\u00e9ricos de pachydeminae. Se describe adem\u00e1s el ciclo biol\u00f3gico y los estad\u00edos larvarios de las especies plaga de ceramida.  el estudio filogen\u00e9tico permiti\u00f3 establecer la primera hip\u00f3tesis filogen\u00e9tica de los g\u00e9neros pale\u00e1rticos de pachydeminae, comprobar su car\u00e1cter monofil\u00e9tico y sentar las bases para una nueva clasificaci\u00f3n natural.
