Coli. Mediante el sistema del doble h\u00edbrido de levaduras, se ha determinado una auto-interacci\u00f3n de esta prote\u00edna in vivo, la cual requiere de la integridad del extremo c-terminal de la mol\u00e9cula. Formas derivadas de ftsa, en las cuales se han deleccionado algunos residuos del c-terminal son incapaces de interaccionar eficientemente con la forma intacta, y a la vez tienen afectada su funcionalidad eficientemente con la forma intacta, y a la vez tienen afectada su funcionalidad biol\u00f3gica y su actividad atpasa in vitro. Las formas truncadas de ftsa si bien son capaces de interaccionar con la prote\u00edna ftsz, otro integrante esencial del septosoma de e.Coli, no se localizan en el anillo septal, lo cual indica que deben existir se\u00f1ales adicionales para la localizaci\u00f3n de ftsa en el septo. Se postula que la oligomerizaci\u00f3n ser\u00eda un mecanismo de regulaci\u00f3n negativa de la actividad de la prote\u00edna, de manera que las formas oligom\u00e9ricas ser\u00edan inactivas para la
