La principal virtud que presentan las im\u00e1genes foveles radica en que, con un conjunto de datos reducido, permiten operar simult\u00e1neamente con un amplio campo de visi\u00f3n y una alta resoluci\u00f3n en una determinada regi\u00f3n de \u00e9ste. Por tanto, las t\u00e9cnicas foveales constituyen una alternativa especialmente atractiva para el desarrollo de aplicaciones de visi\u00f3n por computador donde los requerimientos en tiempo de respuesta son bastante rigurosos.  la presente tesis se centra en el \u00e1rea de la visi\u00f3n activa que tiene por objeto el estudio y desarrollo de sistemas de visi\u00f3n foveal, esto es, sistemas que trabajan con im\u00e1genes cuyo perfil de resoluci\u00f3n no es constante. De esta forma, se describe un nuevo tipo de retinotopolog\u00edas, las geometr\u00edas multirresoluci\u00f3n de f\u00f3vea desplazable (gmfd), que presentan la gran ventaja, frente a las geometr\u00edas de f\u00f3vea fija, de que la regi\u00f3n de m\u00e1xima resoluci\u00f3n puede ser ubicada en cualquier parte de la escena, lo que elude el tener que realizar movimientos mec\u00e1nicos de la c\u00e1mara para posicionar la f\u00f3vea en una determinada regi\u00f3n de inter\u00e9s.  para manipular las im\u00e1genes que responden a las gmfd se requieren estructuras de datos en tres dimensiones, as\u00ed como algoritmos multirresoluci\u00f3n capaces de procesarlas. en este sentido, por un lado, se proponen, analizan e implementan las estructuras jer\u00e1rquicas asociadas a dichas retinotopolog\u00edas y, por otro, se adaptan y desarrollan algoritmos piramidales para realizar el procesamiento de las mismas.  tomando como base las gmfd, se ha implementado un
