Pilar <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>El objetivo de este trabajo ha sido caracterizar en rata anestesiada (pentobarbital s\u00f3dico 60 mg\/kg), la respuesta cardiorrespiratoria evocada por la estimulaci\u00f3n espec\u00edfica de neuronas del \u00e1rea a5 catecolamin\u00e9rgica protuberancial. Se ha estudiado tambi\u00e9n la posible modulaci\u00f3n que ejercen estas neuronas sobre la respuesta cardiorrespiratoria evocada por la estimulaci\u00f3n de neuronas del n\u00facleo parabraquial medial y de kolliker-fuse.  la estimulaci\u00f3n espec\u00edfica de somas neuronales del \u00e1rea a5 catecolamin\u00e9rgica protuberancial en rata por medio de la microinyecci\u00f3n de glutamato (20 nl, 2nm, ph 7,4; durante 5s), produce una respuesta cardiorrespiratoria caracterizada por una disminuci\u00f3n de la frecuencia respiratoria (p&lt;0,01) por aumento del tiempo espiratorio (p&lt;0,01). Al mismo tiempo se observa un aumento de la presi\u00f3n arterial (p&lt;0,01) y de la frecuencia cardiaca (p&lt;0,05).  la respuesta respiratoria a esa estimulaci\u00f3n persiste despu\u00e9s del bloqueo de los cambios cardiovasculares con guanetidina (10 mg\/kg, iv), por lo que el aumento del tiempo espiratorio no es un efecto reflejo secundario al aumento de presi\u00f3n arterial.  los cambios cardiorrespiratorios obtenidos por la estimulaci\u00f3n espec\u00edfica de somas neuronales del \u00e1rea a5 son similares a los encontrados por la estimulaci\u00f3n espec\u00edfica de somas neuronales de los n\u00facleos parabraquial medial y kolliker-fuse (glutamato, 20 nl, 2nmoles, durante 5s).  el bloqueo de la actividad neuronal del \u00e1rea a5 por la microinyecci\u00f3n \u00abin situ\u00bb de muscimol (20 nl, 0,1 nmoles) invierte significativamente la respuesta respiratoria a la estimulaci\u00f3n de somas de los n\u00facleos parabraquial medial y kolliker-fuse, dando lugar a un aumento de la frecuencia respiratoria (p&lt;0,05) por disminuci\u00f3n del tiempo espiratorio (p&lt;0,05).
