Se ha escogido el matadero ubicado en el complejo de mercamurcia, situado en la pedan\u00eda de el palmar (murcia). El objetivo base es conseguir que este efluente posea unas caracter\u00edsticas tales, que cumpla los l\u00edmites establecidos por el reglamento de vertidos del ayuntamiento de murcia (b.O.R.M., N 154, 7\/7\/86), que marca valores de dbo5 &lt; 400 mg\/l y sst &lt; 500 mg\/l.  el trabajo se realiza a escala de laboratorio y los resultados experimentales se extrapolan a escala real. Se ha seleccionado como coagulantes: sulfato f\u00e9rrico, sulfato de aluminio y cloruro de polialuminio. Para mejorar el proceso de coagulaci\u00f3n-floculaci\u00f3n, a fin de conseguir una mejor calidad del efluente y una buena y r\u00e1pida sedimentaci\u00f3n, se seleccionaron los siguientes coadyuvantes: s\u00edlice activada, carbonato c\u00e1lcico precipitado, carb\u00f3n activo en polvo, poliacrilamida cat\u00f3nica, \u00e1cido poliacr\u00edlico, alcohol de polivinilo y poliacrilamida ani\u00f3nica. La selecci\u00f3n de coagulantes y coadyuvantes as\u00ed como de las condiciones de operaci\u00f3n se realiz\u00f3 combinando la experimentaci\u00f3n con datos extra\u00eddos de la bibliograf\u00eda referentes al tratamiento f\u00edsico-qu\u00edmico de efluentes industriales. los par\u00e1metros escogidos para establecer las condiciones \u00f3ptimas del proceso (dqo, dbo5, sst) son los m\u00e1s utilizados en la caracterizaci\u00f3n de las aguas residuales. El empleo de los tres coagulantes proporciona rendimientos elevados de materia org\u00e1nica y en su suspensi\u00f3n y, en general, la acci\u00f3n de coadyuvantes aumenta la velocidad de sedimentaci\u00f3n de los fl\u00f3culos formados. Una vez establecidas las condiciones \u00f3ptimas, este estudio se complementa con la determinaci\u00f3n, antes y despu\u00e9s del tratamiento, del n\u00famero y tama\u00f1o de part\u00edculas,
