Los paralajes medidos por el sat\u00e9lite hipparcos establecen un sistema de referencia s\u00f3lido que se ha utilizado para comprobar la validez de los modelos de atm\u00f3sfera cl\u00e1sicos para estrellas fr\u00edas. Esto ha permitido confirmar la existencia de errores en el equilibrio de ionizaci\u00f3n que ya anteriormente se intu\u00edan y que apuntan hacia importantes desviaciones del equilibrio termodin\u00e1mico local para las estrellas de baja gravedad.  como alternativa a los modelos unidimensionales que conservan el flujo, se propone un nuevo m\u00e9todo de construcci\u00f3n de modelos semi-emp\u00edricos a partir de la inversi\u00f3n de perfiles normalizados de l\u00edneas espectrales. La aplicaci\u00f3n al sol demuestra su efectividad a partir de la comparaci\u00f3n con observaciones con resoluci\u00f3n espacial y medidas absolutas de flujo. la aplicaci\u00f3n a otras estrellas, en particular la estrella pobre en metales groombridge 1830 y a la estrella activa de metalicidad solar epsylon eridani, da lugar a modelos semi-emp\u00edricos que son capaces de reproducir todos los rasgos espectrales considerados.  los espectros de muy alta resoluci\u00f3n de groombridge 1830 y la subgigante extremadamente deficiente en metales hd140283 permiten detectar asimetr\u00edas en las l\u00edneas espectrales que se interpretan como la huella de patrones convectivos que, al menos en hd140283, aparecen significativamente realzados debido a la baja opacidad de su atm\u00f3sfera. Se muestra c\u00f3mo, no s\u00f3lo las asimetr\u00edas de las l\u00edneas espectrales, sino tambi\u00e9n lso desplazamientos de los m\u00ednimos de las l\u00edneas, pueden ser usados en el sol y en otras estrellas para extraer informaci\u00f3n \u00fatil sobre los campos de velocidades y las inhomogeneidades superficiales.
