En cianobacterias se expresa mayoritariamente una enzima gapdh2 anfib\u00f3lica, tanto por su dependencia del cofactor nucleot\u00eddico (nad \u00f3 nadp) como por su participaci\u00f3n en rutas anab\u00f3licas y catab\u00f3licas, por lo que ha sido considerada como una nueva enzima por la iubmb con el n\u00famero de identificaci\u00f3n ec 1.2.1.59. El gen gap2 que codifica esta enzima en la cianobacteria unicelular synechocystis sp. Pcc 6803 ha sido clonado por complementaci\u00f3n funcional de un mutante gap-de e. Coli, siendo la primera vez que esta estrategia se emplea con un gen implicado en la asimilaci\u00f3n fotosint\u00e9tica del carbono. Su expresi\u00f3n es m\u00e1xima en autotrof\u00eda y m\u00ednima en heterotrof\u00eda. En la microalga chlorella fusca se encuentran tres enzimas gapdh diferentes, dos fosforilantes (una en el cloroplasto y la otra en el citosol) y una no fosforiante citos\u00f3lica. La utilizaci\u00f3n de los genes clonados y de anticuerpos monoespecificos en experimentos de \u00abnorthern\u00bb y \u00abwestern blot\u00bb ha mostrado que la enzima fosforilante cloropl\u00e1stica desaparece virtualmente en presencia de glucosa en luz pero no en oscuridad, mientras que las otras dos enzimas se expresan en grado m\u00e1ximo en condiciones mixo-y heterotr\u00f3ficas. El gen que codifica la enzima gapdh no fosforilante de guisante se ha clonado y la prote\u00edna se ha expresado en la enterobacteria e. Coli, demostr\u00e1ndose as\u00ed la funcionalidad de una posible ruta glicol\u00edtica no fosforilante sin rendimiento energ\u00e9tico neto, que podr\u00eda ser operativa en eucariotas
