La heterogeneidad presente en las especies k. Dobzhanskii, k. Lactis y k. Marxianus ha dificultado el establecimiento de l\u00edmites claros entre ellas. Los \u00e1rboles obtenidos de las secuencias its:5.8s rrna nos presentan a estas tres especies en grupos claramente diferentes. Esta separaci\u00f3n entre las tres especies tambi\u00e9n ha sido confirmada con otros marcadores moleculares, como los rflps de mtdna y los cariotipos. A la vista de la reconstrucci\u00f3n filogen\u00e9tica de la especie k.
