Uno de los genes (efb1) codifica para el factor de elongaci\u00f3n ef-1beta; en su secuencia presenta dos exones separados por un intr\u00f3n; el gen se expresa en ambas morfolog\u00edas del hongo y su funcionalidad se ha demostrado mediante complementaci\u00f3n en un mutante de s.Cerevisiae defectivo en dicho gen. oligonucle\u00f3tidos sint\u00e9ticos deducidos de la secuencia del gen efb1 se han utilizado para identificar espec\u00edficamente cepas de c.Albicans, tanto de laboratorio como aislados cl\u00ednicos. El segundo gen caracterizado (ssb1) codifica para una prote\u00edna de choque t\u00e9rmico (ssb1) de la familia hsp70. Dicho gen presenta una elevada similitud con sus hom\u00f3logos de distintas especies. La funci\u00f3n del producto g\u00e9nico se ha demostrado tambi\u00e9n por complementaci\u00f3n en mutantes de s.Cerevisiae. La expresi\u00f3n de dicho gen est\u00e1 controlada por temperaturas como demuestran experimentos de choque t\u00e9rmico y la expresi\u00f3n de invertasa bajo el control del promotor
