Se ha utilizado la reacci\u00f3n de compuestos dihalogenados que contienen un fragmento arom\u00e1tico con ditioles que contienen un grupo hidroxilo, bajo atm\u00f3sfera de nitr\u00f3geno y en condiciones de alta diluci\u00f3n seg\u00fan el m\u00e9todo de descrito por kellogg. La reacci\u00f3n de estos macrociclos funcionalizados con el cloruro de succinilo da lugar a unos nuevos macrobiciclos con uniones tio\u00e9ster. Todos los compuestos macro y macrobiciclos han estado carcterizados por las t\u00e9cnicas habituales.  en segundo lugar se ha estudiado la capacidad coordinante de estos ligandos con los iones met\u00e1licos de transici\u00f3n fe(ii), ni(ii) y cu(ii) a partir de sus sales con cloruros y percloratos. Mientras que los ligandos macroc\u00edclicos benc\u00e9nicos presentan coordinaci\u00f3n planocuadrada o octa\u00e9drica cuando se usa las sales percl\u00f3ricas de los iones met\u00e1licos, cuando se usa las sales que contienen cloruros siempre tiene lugar la coordinaci\u00f3n octa\u00e9drica del metal. Los ligandos macroc\u00edclicos que contienen el grupo piridina siempre dan lugar a complejos octaedricos. Si bien el macrociclo contribuye con cinco coordinaciones, la sexta es ocupada por mol\u00e9culas de disolvente o un ion cloruro.
