El efecto de la cohb es una hipoxia tisular profunda.  entre 1990-1994 se detectaron 28 casos de elevaci\u00f3n inexplicada de cohb durante la anestesia (intoxicaci\u00f3n por co). Un estudio in vitro demostr\u00f3 que el co se produce al reaccionar ciertos anest\u00e9sicos inhalados con el absorbente de co2 de las m\u00e1quinas de anestesia cuando \u00e9ste se ha desecado. en esta tesis estudiamos los factores que favorecen la desecaci\u00f3n del absorbente n cl\u00ednica. Concluimos que: (1) el uso cl\u00ednico diario no deseca la cal a niveles peligrosos para la producci\u00f3n de co; (2) el absorbente se deseca por el paso de un flujo continuo de ox\u00edgeno en determinadas circunstancias. llegamos a una ecuaci\u00f3n matem\u00e1tica que define el proceso de desecaci\u00f3n por flujo continuo; (3) determinamos, que cuando el absorbente se ha desecado a niveles peligrosos, la producci\u00f3n de co depende del agente inhalatorio utilizado y su concentraci\u00f3n, del grado de desecaci\u00f3n y de la cantidad de absorbente utilizado y del flujo de gas
