Por otro lado, se ha realizado un estudio de las transiciones de campo cristalino de los iones tierra rara en estos compuestos a partir del cual se ha determinado el esquema de niveles de dichos iones. Se ha estudiado la interrelaci\u00f3n entre las transiciones de campo cristalino y los fonones \u00f3pticos en funci\u00f3n de la temperatura. a partir del conocimiento de las cuatro estructuras cristalogr\u00e1ficas que pueden adoptar estos compuestos y de los c\u00e1lculos de teor\u00eda de grupos, se ha determinado el n\u00famero y simetr\u00eda de los modos normales de cada estructura as\u00ed como la actividad \u00f3ptica de cada uno de ellos.
