Carmen <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>En este trabajo se ha abordado la caracterizaci\u00f3n de prote\u00ednas de membrana del virus vaccinia alteradas en virus mutantes fuertemente atenuados que han sido aislados de infecciones persistentes en cultivos celulares. en primer lugar, se ha caracterizado la fase del ciclo biol\u00f3gico responsable de la reducida infectividad de estos virus mutantes en cultivos celulares. As\u00ed, se ha demostrado que estos mutantes son defectivos en diseminaci\u00f3n viral debido a su incapacidad para envolverse con membranas del aparato golgi y producir virus extracelular envuelto. en segundo lugar, se ha identificado y caracterizado una glicoprote\u00edna estructural de 39 kda (gen a4l) que aparece modificada en estos virus mutantes. Esta glicoprote\u00edna se localiza en la superficie externa del core viral y peretenece al grupo de prote\u00ednas citoplasm\u00e1ticas modificadas por la adici\u00f3n de n-acetilglucosamina unida por enlace o-glicos\u00eddico. Los virus mutantes producen una prote\u00edna mutante que contiene mutaciones puntuales que afectan las propiedades estructurales y antig\u00e9nicas de esta glicoprote\u00edna viral. Sin embargo, estas mutaciones no parecen estar afectando de una forma significativa la capacidad infectiva de estos virus en cultivos celulares. Por \u00faltimo, se han caracterizado las alteraciones ourridas en una prote\u00edna de 14 kda (gen a27l) implicada en los procesos de entrada del virus a la c\u00e9lula, en la producci\u00f3n de virus envuelto necesario para que la salida del virus de la c\u00e9lula sea r\u00e1pida y eficaz y para la fusi\u00f3n celular inducida por el virus vaccinia. Se han identificado las mutaciones que ocurren en esta prote\u00edna en los virus mutantes y se ha analizado el efecto de estas mutaciones en los distintos aspectos de la biolog\u00eda del virus que han sido relacionados con esta prote\u00edna. De estos estudios se concluye que esta prote\u00edna posee diferentes funciones que pueden ser separadas.
