Se caracterizan por la capacidad de unirse a carbohidratos, aunque la especificidad es diversa.  se han determinado, mediante cristalograf\u00eda de rayos-x, la estructuras tridimensionales de una lectina heterodim\u00e9rica glicosilada del plasma seminal de cerdo (psp-i\/psp-ii) y del polip\u00e9ptido glicosilado del plasma seminal de toro (asfp) a 2,4 y 1,9 a respectivamente. ambos pertenecen a una nueva familia de prote\u00ednas denomindas espermadhesinas que intervienen en las primeras etapas de la fecundaci\u00f3n animal y estructuralmente poseen un m\u00f3dulo de plegamiento denominado cub presente en otras prote\u00ednas muchas de las cuales est\u00e1n implicadas en procesos de desarrollo.  tambi\u00e9n se han determinado la estructura de la galectina de pollo, cg-16, a 2815 a de resoluci\u00f3n, que al igual que el resto de prote\u00ednas resueltas de la misma familia, presentan un plegamiento de tipo \u00abjelly roll\u00bb..<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de
