Estos son estructuras sedimentarias de forma alargada y que se repiten peri\u00f3dicamente a lo largo de la costa. Ejemplos son las que se observan en la costa central de holanda o la costa atl\u00e1ntica de la pen\u00ednsula de florida en los estados unidos. Estos bancos se caracterizan por hallarse en profundidades de entre 5 y 30m, estar espaciados entre 5 y 7 km., Tener una amplitud de entre 2 y 4m y una longitud aproximada de 10 km. Y encontrarse en pendientes suaves. La orientaci\u00f3n de estos bancos es tal que la parte situada mar adentro est\u00e1 desplazada contra corriente respecto a la parte m\u00e1s cercana a la costa.  modelos previos para estructuras similares, el modelo desarrollado por trowbridge en 1995 para estos mismos bancos, as\u00ed como diversas observaciones, sugieren que los bancos de arena sobre la plataforma continental y asociados a la costa se han podido generar como una inestabilidad inherente del sistema morfodin\u00e1mico, formado por los procesos hidrodin\u00e1micos en interacci\u00f3n con un fondo erosionable. Esta es la hip\u00f3tesis que se ha intentado verificar en esta tesis.  para ello se han estudiado la estabilidad de un fondo plano en la direcci\u00f3n de la costa e inclinado en la direcci\u00f3n transversal y una corriente uniforme en la direcci\u00f3n de la costa. En este flujo b\u00e1sico esta forzado por las tensiones debidas el viento en la superficie, los gradientes longitudinales de la superficie libre y las mareas. El flujo est\u00e1 descrito por las ecuaciones de aguas poco profundas promediadas verticalmente, y en las que efectos como el del oleaje o la rugosidad del fondo han sido promediados (en el tiempo y el espacio, respectivamente) e incluidos param\u00e9tricamente.
