Telecomunicaci\u00f3n ha mantenido una activa l\u00ednea de investigaci\u00f3n sobre la aplicaci\u00f3n del mef a diversos problemas electromagn\u00e9ticos, centrada b\u00e1sicamente en el an\u00e1lisis de problemas en dos dimensiones. La presente tesis representa la continuaci\u00f3n de dicho trabajo de investigaci\u00f3n, habi\u00e9ndose centrado en el desarrollo de t\u00e9cnicas eficientes en la aplicaci\u00f3n del mef y la extensi\u00f3n del an\u00e1lisis al caso tridimensional. Las aportaciones m\u00e1s novedosas son el empleo de funciones de base de tipo ond\u00edcula, el desarrollo de implementaciones de los elementos de orden superior de la primera familia de n\u00e9d\u00e9lec fieles a la definici\u00f3n de elemento dada por n\u00e9d\u00e9lec, y un m\u00e9todo iterativo para el an\u00e1lisis de problemas abiertos que permite truncar el dominio infinito del
