Si bien la incidencia del fen\u00f3meno de erosi\u00f3n-corrosi\u00f3n se produce en todas estas instalaciones con mayor o menor extensi\u00f3n, es en las centrales nucleares donde sus repercusiones son m\u00e1s trascendentes, ya que los fallos producidos en los componentes degradados no s\u00f3lo suponen accidentes que puedan afectar a la seguridad del personal y a la propia instalaci\u00f3n, acarreando costosas paradas y reparaciones, sino tambi\u00e9n pueden provocar posibles escapes radiactivos al medio ambiente.  como consecuencia de esta problem\u00e1tica y principalmente a partir del accidente en la central nuclear de surry 2 (1986) en estados unidos, se comienza a estudiar a fondo el fen\u00f3meno de erosi\u00f3n-corrosi\u00f3n tanto para definir cuales son los par\u00e1metros que intervienen en el mismo como las posibles medidas a adoptar para solucionar la incidencia del fen\u00f3meno en los distintos sistemas de las centrales. Las investigaciones realizadas han permitido definir que los factores que influyen en el impacto de la erosi\u00f3n- corrosi\u00f3n son los que se enumeran a continuaci\u00f3n:  . Caracter\u00edsticas y propiedades del material (principalmente la composici\u00f3n qu\u00edmica del acero)  . Caracter\u00edsticas f\u00edsico-qu\u00edmicas del agua (temperatura, ph, concentraci\u00f3n de ox\u00edgeno)  . Condiciones hidrodin\u00e1micas del fluido (velocidad, flujo)  . Geometr\u00eda del componente y tiempo de exposici\u00f3n.  otra v\u00eda de investigaci\u00f3n ha sido el desarrollo de modelos predictivos del fen\u00f3meno de er<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos
