Nidulans posee un sistema de beta-oxidaci\u00f3n inducible por acetato y en mayor medida por \u00e1cido oleico. El crecimiento en presencia de acetato y sobre todo de \u00e1cido oleico induce la proliferaci\u00f3n masiva de los peroxisomas de a.Nidulans, proceso que ha sido empleado para estudiar y caracterizar la biog\u00e9nesis de estos org\u00e1nulos en este hongo filamentoso.  mediante estudios de fraccionamiento subcelular, citoqu\u00edmicos e inmunocitoqu\u00edmicos se ha demostrado que las enzimas de la beta-oxidaci\u00f3n de \u00e1cidos grasos, catalasa y las enzimas claves del ciclo de gliox\u00edlico, isocitrato liasa y malato sintetasa, se localizan en los peroxisomas de a.Nidulans, el \u00fanico tipo de microcuerpos existente en este microorganismo. Los peroxisomas de a.Nidulans conservan la maquinaria para el transporte de las prote\u00ednas a la matriz peroxisomal dependiente de secuencias se\u00f1ales pts1 y pts2.  utilizando el m\u00e9todo de selecci\u00f3n positiva del 3-aminotriazol se ha aislado una colecci\u00f3n de 40 mutantes ole de a.Nidulans que definen cinco genes nucleares denominacos olea, oleb, olec, oled y olee. Mutaciones en dichos genes impiden la utilizaci\u00f3n de fuentes de carbono cuyo metabolismo ocurre en peroxisomas.  la mutaci\u00f3n olee21 define un nuevo gen ole\/acu en a.Nidulans, localizado en el cromosoma i de este hongo filamentoso. La caracterizaci\u00f3n bioqu\u00edmica y ultraestructural del mutante olee21 demuestran que esta cepa es deficiente en biog\u00e9nesis de peroxisomas y supone la identificaci\u00f3n del primer gen en a.Nidulans implicado en este proceso, al que hemos denominado pera.  mutantes olea y olec son deficientes en las enzimas peroxisomales carnitin-acetil-trasferasa y malato sintetasa, respectivamente.
