Material y m\u00e9todos: se anestesian 24 cerdos utilizando una m\u00e1quina de anestesia con el canister de cal sodada est\u00e1 situado en la rama inspiratoria tras la entrada de gases frescos. La cal sodada utilizada para la experimentaci\u00f3n se desec\u00f3 previamente a un nivel del 1% y los agentes halogenados administrados fueron el isoflurane y el desflurane. Se analizan los niveles de co en el circuito anest\u00e9sico y de carboxihemoglobina en sangre arterial en funci\u00f3n del agente inhalatorio, de la concentraci\u00f3n adminsitrada, del volumen minuto ventilatorio y del flujo de gas fresco empleado. Resultados: la concentraci\u00f3n pico de carboxihemoglobina en sangre arterial var\u00edo en funci\u00f3n del agente anest\u00e9sico utilizado (mayor con desflurano) y de la concentraci\u00f3n administrada. El volumen minuto ventilatorio menor implica una intoxicaci\u00f3n por co m\u00e1s severa. la utilizaci\u00f3n de flujos de gas fresco menores condicionan niveles mayores de carboxihemoglobina para cada agente halogenado. Conclusiones: la intoxicaci\u00f3n grave por mon\u00f3xido de carbono durante la anestesia depende de las condiciones de utilizaci\u00f3n del circuito circular. los factores que potencian la intoxicaci\u00f3n por mon\u00f3xido de carbono son la utilizaci\u00f3n de desflurane, un menor volumen minuto ventilatorio y\/o la practica de la anestesia con bajos flujos de gas
