El objetivo concreto del mismo consiste, en relacionar la resistencia mecanica de los huesos largos de animales de laboratorio, obtenida mediante un ensayo a torsi\u00f3n a baja velocidad y la densidad mineral \u00f3sea medida mediante una densitometr\u00eda.  la densitometr\u00eda \u00f3sea es el m\u00e9todo no invasivo utilizado actualmente para evaluar la buena calidad del hueso, siendo la tendencia actual, comparar los resultados obtenidos con este m\u00e9todo, con su resistencia mecanica medida en los ensayos mecanicos.  entre los ensayos biomecanicos, el ensayo de torsi\u00f3n constituye el mejor metodo para conocer el comportamiento de las propiedades mecanicas del hueso. Su importancia se debe a que la rotura se produce principalmente a causa de las tensiones cortantes, en la zona m\u00e1s debil del hueso, reparti\u00e9ndose la carga uniformemente en todas las secciones.
