Se ha explotado su capacidad de establecer multiles interacciones del tipo c-h&#8230;O, en base a lo cual se han desarrollado diferentes receptores para sales de tetraalquilamonio, entre las que se encuentran la colina y la acetillcolina, as\u00ed como fosfol\u00edpidos derivados de colina. Se han determinado las constantes de asociacion mediante m\u00e9todos de valoraci\u00f3n basados en h-rmn, uv-visible y fluorescencia, encontr\u00e1ndose valores de entre 10 y10 m-1.  los valores son especialmente elevados para fosol\u00edpidos dereviados de colina (10-5m-1), lo cual llev\u00f3 a la s\u00edntesis de un quimiosensor para fosfatidilcolina por la introducci\u00f3n de un grupo
