La p53 se expresa en bajos niveles en diversos tipos celulares. Su expresi\u00f3n puede inducirse en situaciones de da\u00f1o en el adn celular o durante la entrada de las c\u00e9lulas en ciclo. En el primer caso, puede inducir arresto celular o apoptosis,  en el segundo caso, no se conoce su papel. Por otra parte, en variedad de procesos neopl\u00e1sicos la p53 est\u00e1 sobreexpresada, aunque funcionalmente inactiva. Adem\u00e1s, los ratones p53-\/- presentan alta incidencia al desarrollo de linfomas. En este trabajo se estudiaron los efectos biol\u00f3gicos inducidos por p53 cuando se restableci\u00f3 su expresi\u00f3n en la l\u00ednea celular humana linfoide jurkat. la p53 restablecida en dicha l\u00ednea celular no indujo detenci\u00f3n del ciclo celular ni apoptosis. Esta v\u00eda no requiere de la transcripci\u00f3n de genes, aunque es inhibible por la pkc. La presencia de p53 acelera la apoptosis invlucrando mecanismos independientes y dependientes de su actividad transcripcional que no se afectan por la activaci\u00f3n de la pck. Asimismo, la activaci\u00f3n de la pkc produce acumulaci\u00f3n de p53 sin producir detenci\u00f3n del ciclo celular o apoptosis. Durante la proliferaci\u00f3n de los linfocitos t se expresa p53 aunque no parece estar transcripcionalmente activa. Paralelamente, se inducen p21 y mdm-2. La regulaci\u00f3n de la expresi\u00f3n de mdm-2 parece controlarse por la estabilidad de la prote\u00edna. La detenci\u00f3n de las c\u00e9lulas en g1, mediada por cd3, no parece estar mediada pro p21. El bloqueo se produce por la falta de reguladores positivos. Se observ\u00f3, adem\u00e1s, que con la estimulaci\u00f3n con la segunda se\u00f1al se produjo una fuerte inducci\u00f3n de las ciclinas y cdks coincidiendo con la entrada de las c\u00e9lulas a la
