Pero ?Como identificar a los mas susceptibles a las desaturaciones arteriales de oxigeno en el periodo post-operatorio?.  con este fin se dise\u00f1a un estudio en dos partes:  1.- Retrospectivo: se recogen 27 variables del informe pre-anestesico, de la grafica per-operatoria de anestesia y de la unidad de recuperacion post-anestesica (u.R.P.A.). Mediante analisis estadistico multivariable de regresion multiple y de regresion logistica se busca significacion con respecto al tiempo de oxigenoterapia en la urpa, tiempo de estancia en la misma, ultima saturacion en la unidad y la indicacion o no de oxigenoterapia posterior. Resultan significativas: edad, sexo, sobrepeso, saturacion arterial de oxigeno pre-operatoria, normalidad o no del electrocardiograma, tiempo y tipo de intervencion y analgesia recibida en la urpa. A partir de los resultados del analisis estadistico se construyen diversos indices de riesgo.  2.- Propectivo: se busca correlacion entre los riesgos desarrollados y las saturaciones minima y media, numero de desaturaciones y el tiempo en tanto por cien de los diferentes rangos de saturacion, mediante test de correlacion de spearman, para variables no parametricas.  en base a su sencillez de uso y a su alta correlacion, con una probabilidad menor o igual a 0.0001 para la mayoria de las variables analizadas, se propone el uso del riesgo generado a partir del analisis estadistico de la ultima saturacion en la urpa. Es un buen indice para predecir el riesgo de desaturar la primera noche despues de una intervencion quirurgica bajo anestesia general.  puede considerarse un criterio objetivo que discrimine los pacientes candidatos a oxigenoterapia prolongada.
