En la personalidad del rey -buen ejemplo del hombre estetico de spranger- hallamos un caso verdaderamente singular en que el propio mecenas es tambien artista  un gran poeta que sabe valorar las obras que encarga  con todo lo que ello significa para la obra terminada  para la obra bien hecha. Los privilegios y exenciones concedidos por alfonso x a las obras de las catedrales junto a las donaciones realizadas a canteros alarifes  entalladores  miniaturistas y orfebres demuestran la predileccion de alfonso x por las artes plasticas. La reconquista de los territorios andaluces supuso la conservacion  restauracion y defensa de las mezquitas de cordoba y sevilla  al propio tiempo que la edificacion de iglesias parroquiales  en ambas ciudades en las que se sigue el estilo gotico peculiar de la escuela burgalesa unido al nacimiento del mudejar.
