Un punto fundamental del trabajo lo constituye el estudio de las propiedades de la nitrato reductasa y nitrito reductasa  enzimas componentes del sistema  asi como la caracterizacion de la ferredoxina reducida como donador inmediato de electrones para ambos enzimas.
