Su liberacion al medio ambiente tiene lugar durante la reaccion de liberacion inducida por diversos agentes fisiologicos como el adp  trombina y fibras de colageno. El interes por este factor se ha acrecentado ultimamente puesto que se ha comprobado que sus niveles plasmaticos se incrementan en los procesos tromboticos. La mayoria de los metodos existentes hasta la actualidad para la determinacion del fp-4 se basan en su propiedad neutralizadora de la heparina. Sin embargo dichos metodos son de dificil realizacion y solo aportan datos relativos. Por ello en esta tesis se ha intentado desarrollar un metodo determinacion inmunologica del fp-4 procediendose a su aislamiento y purificacion a partir de plaquetas humanas  y su inoculacion a conejos con el fin de obtener un suero anti-fp-4. Una vez obtenido se han practicado determinaciones cuantitativas de fp-4 en plasma y suero mediante tecnicas de inmunodifusion radical simple e inmunoelectroforesis
