Se han probado configuraciones con nitrificacion y desnitrificacion, regeneracion y selectores anoxicos en plantas de escala laboratorio y piloto. Se estudiaron fenomenos de la dinamica de las poblaciones entre microorganismos de fango activado. Se han desarrollado, calibrado y verificado modelos matematicos capaces de simular el comportamiento de estos sistemas. Ademas de los modelos matematicos convencionales se ha propuesto un modelo nuevo para la biosorcion de la materia organica soluble.  se han dise\u00f1ado metodos nuevos para la estimacion de algunos parametros de los modelos. Los sistemas, llamados r-d-n y d-r-d-n, han mostrado muy diversas ventajas respecto a sistemas convencionales. Los modelos matematicos permitieron predecir fielmente el comportamiento de las plantas en estado estacionario y dinamico.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis doctoral
