Estas sustancias actuan sobre las distintas rutas metabolicas en las que se integran los nutrientes, favoreciendo el crecimiento corporal. Sus aplicaciones tanto en la produccion animal como en la clinica humana estan siendo ampliamente investigadas. El objeto del presente trabajo es el estudio de las acciones de estas sustancias en el metabolismo proteico y lipidico, asi como su mecanismo de accion. El agonista beta-adrenergico no selectivo metaproterenol aumento la degradacion proteica muscular, sin alterar el porcentaje de sintesis proteica en el musculo, higado o yeyuno. Por otro lado, el factor de crecimiento igf-i produjo un incremento de la sintesis proteica en la tibia, aunque no modifico la de otros tejidos ni la degradacion de la proteina hepatica o muscular. Estos resultados apuntan hacia un posible efecto beneficioso de dicho factor en el tratamiento de enfermedades oseas. En estudios realizados \u00abin vitro\u00bb la actividad lipolitica aumento tras la incubacion con gh y con el metaproterenol.
